Netbook Basics

netbook

Netbook computers, mini laptops and all-in-one PCs all utilize the same basic form factor – the main differentiating factor is size. In simple terms, a netbook computer is a small computer with two major components: a display screen and a keyboard connected by hinges to a central processing unit or chassis. In practical terms, netbook computers generally are much smaller and light than normal laptop computers, and are typically smaller and weigh less than many of the average-sized laptops used for work.

In most cases, a netbook is designed to be lightweight and easy to carry around. Because a netbook is not a full-featured laptop like a laptop, there are some netbook models available with less-than-normal weights and hard drive capacities. For example, an ordinary five pound netbook may only weigh five pounds or less due to the fact that the machine itself doesn’t contain a full featured graphics card, optical drive or other extra hardware that a full-featured laptop would.

However, despite the lack of some bells and whistles, netbooks have gained in popularity over traditional laptop computers because they are often easier to use, require less space (a few inches or less of space is generally all that is required) and can be equipped with extra software applications and programs. While the netbook may not have the full capabilities of a full-featured laptop, it is often as fast, if not faster, than full featured netbooks. As is the case with any type of computing, though, netbooks are not all created alike. If you are considering purchasing a netbook, here are some tips that will help you make your decision.

One of the first things that you need to think about when purchasing netbooks is the size of the screen. Many people are looking for netbooks because they are much smaller than typical laptop computers. Netbooks are also much smaller than typical desktop computers and therefore, the screen size of the netbook should be smaller than the screen size of the average laptop.

Another important aspect of netbook pricing is the portability of the machine. Netbooks are generally small, lightweight laptops that are easier to transport from place to place than most laptop computers. You can get these types of machines in several different configurations; therefore, it is up to you to decide which configuration will work best for you. Laptop computers are often very heavy and large, but they are much more difficult to transport than netbook machines.

In short, netbook computers have a lot of benefits, but there are also some disadvantages. The size, weight and screen size are the biggest disadvantage, but there are many other minor aspects that you should consider before deciding on purchasing a netbook. One thing to keep in mind is that these machines are not as common as laptop computers so it could be difficult to find one that is inexpensive. If you do find a netbook, it may have a higher price than normal laptop computers, so it is important to consider this in your budgeting.
